1) Carolina -- Cameron Newton, QB, Auburn.
Not much of a shocker there. Right away Jimmy Clausen tweeted a congratulations message to Newton and called dibs on the bench between the 30 and 40 yard-line.

2) Denver --Von Miller, LB, Texas A&M
The Broncos definitely needed a boost on defense and apparently Miller is the most athletic specimen (cough..Gholston..cough) in the draft not named Cam Newton or Patrick Peterson.

3) Buffalo -- Marcus Dareus, DT/DL, Alabama
I must admit I got like man crush x 10 on this guy. He reminds me of Reggie White but bigger and without the cool, raspy voice. I miss Reggie White.

4) Cincinnati -- A.J. Green, WR, Georgia
I like this pick for the Bengals. Even though Carson Palmer isn't coming back the Bengals didn't reach for Blaine Gabbert. They can get a quarterback in Round 2.

5) Arizona --Patrick Peterson, DB, LSU
Well Gabbert has officially slipped a little. If he doesn't stop at San Francisco things could get interesting. Meanwhile, I've known Patrick since he was a junior in high school, he's always been a stand out performer and he helps the Cardinals right away.

6) Atlanta (from Cleveland) -- Julio Jones, WR, Alabama
Player and team hit the jackpot. Julio was looking at a life in Cleveland or catching "passes" from Alex Smith, instead he goes to Atlanta -- a short trip up from his home in Foley, Alabama -- and inserts himself on a playoff team. Ladies and Gentlemen, the real winner of the draft.

Now the parameters of the trade have the Falcons flipping first round picks with Cleveland and giving Cleveland at second and fourth this year...AND a first and fourth next year. That was a Super Bowl or bust trade.

7) San Francisco -- Aldon Smith, DE, Missouri
If you selected Smith as the first Mizzou Tiger to be taken in this draft, YOU are a winner. Meanwhile Ces, Corey and Mike sit back smiling as we predicted the Gabbert flop.

8) Tennessee -- Jake Locker, QB, Washington (!!)
Oh snap! Tennessee was like ... "We need a quarterback" and Blaine Gabbert is like "Hey, pick me" and Tennessee was like "Who are you?". Damn Blaine, did you fail a drug test or something?

9) Dallas -- Tyron Smith, OT, USC
With a potential game changer like Nick Fairley on the board I must admit this pick is a bit of a shocker. It's the smart pick but not necessarily the pick I'd expect from the Cowboys. However, the Cowboys run a 3-4 and that doesn't fit Fairley.

10) Jacksonville (from Washington) -- Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
Hmm, so the Jags could have traded up for Tim Tebow last year and printed money based on the anticipated jersey sales but they wait a year and trade up for Gabbert. Ladies and Gentlemen these are your Los Angeles Jaguars!

Washington flops first-round picks with Jacksonville and takes their second.

11) Houston -- J.J. Watt, DE, Wisconsin
Houston needed improvements on defense. Watt and Mario Williams could be pretty good together.

12) Minnesota --Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State
Hmmm interesting, so Minnesota drafts a guy they probably could have gotten 15 spots lower. That being said I like Ponder when he's healthy. Very smart kid, got his undergraduate degree before he stepped on the field, got his MBA by the time he was a senior.

13) Detroit -- Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
You strengthen your strengths! That's how the Patriots won three Super Bowls and have remained near the top of the league. The Lions made their best unit even better without moving an inch.

14) St. Louis -- Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina
Tough situation for the Rams as they desperately wanted to get into a spot to get Julio Jones. But they sit back and get a heck of a player, maybe the best natural defensive end in the draft. Steve Spagnolo should be happy.

15) Miami -- Mike Pouncey, OG/OC, Florida
Well they need a quarterback, any quarterback, and there are just none left because you know Andy Dalton is a goner by the time they get to the second round. Pouncey was the best player available at a need position.

16) Washington (from Jacksonville) --Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue
No problems here, it was a good solid pick for a good solid player. Not to figure out the quarterback problems or give the ball to Rex "Gulp" Grossman.

17) New England --Nate Solder, OT, Colorado
Tom Brady is getting older and he's already soft. Gizele approves of this pick.

18) San Diego -- Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois
My man! This doesn't fit San Diego's scheme but he was the best player on the board and sometimes that's all that matters.

19) N.Y. Giants -- Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska
Another draft-day slider, and not the good kind...like a crab cake slider, but the Prince fills a need for the Jints as it seems like they ALWAYS need an upgrade in the secondary. You happy with this pick Cesar?

20) Tampa Bay --Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa
Not a sexy pick but one that makes sense. The Bucs were awful in their pass rush last year, this guy rushes the passer, I think we've got a connection! :) Da'Quan Bowers, if you're listening, don't jump.

21) Cleveland (from Kansas City) --Phil Taylor, DT, Baylor
Taylor from Baylor. That's a big dude that can eat up a lot of space and a lot of....whatever food Cleveland is known for? Pirogies? Chili?

22) Indianapolis --Anthony Castonzo, OT, Boston College
Because the Colts need 4-5 more years of Peyton Manning.

23) Philadelphia --Danny Watkins, OG, Baylor
How are more players from Baylor getting picked in the first round than the "U"?

24) New Orleans -- Cameron Jordan, DE, California
Even with Mark Ingram out there you can't have enough quality defensive linemen! With Will "The Fresh Prince" Smith missing four games to suspension to start the season, Jordan will have to come in and make noise early.

25) Seattle --  James Carpenter, OG, Alabama
Hmm, we missed on this one guys, but Alabama offensive lineman, he can't be too bad.

26) Kansas City (from Atlanta, from Cleveland via way of Baltimore slipping) --Jonathan Baldwin, WR, Pittsburgh
Yeah I'll try to figure out what happened in a second. In the mean time Baldwin gives the Chiefs another weapon, I thought they would go wide receiver in the next round but if you need a player, you need a player.

27) Baltimore (via pass) -- Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado
Top 12 quality pick but he is a knucklehead. However, it's tough to be a knucklehead with Ray Lewis giving you the death stare.

28) New Orleans (from New England) -- Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama
We got this one right kids, just a few spots down. Saints trade their 2012 first-round pick to New England. It's great that the Patriots stockpile picks...to trade them again the following year.

29) Chicago --Rich Carimi, OT, Wisconsin
Nice job Bears, another offensive lineman means there's less chance of Jay Cutler quitting during the NFC Championship Game.

30) N.Y. Jets --Muhammad Wilkerson, DT, Temple
OH HELL YEAH!! I love this guy, he just looks like a killer, and Rex Ryan said he's got Haloti Ngata sort of talent. Welcome home Muhammad!

31) Pittsburgh -- Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio State
Tough kid for a tough town. I think this is a great match.

32) Green Bay --Derek Sherrod, OT, Mississppi State
Another good pick because the offensive line held strong for Aaron Rodgers late, but they held on by a thread.

61) San Diego -- Randall "Not Tex" Cobb

The Chargers are another team that needs to re-tool the offense a little bit and Cobb could be a return guy right away. Former H.S. QB has a skill set similar to Brad Smith.

62) Chicago -- Allen Bailey, DL, Miami

In the world of Lovie Smith and Rod Marinelli you can have too many defensive linemen and a guy like Bailey is valuable because you could play him inside or outside.

63) Pittsburgh -- Daniel Thomas, RB, Kansas State

The Steelers won't admit it but they aren't as happy with Rashard Mendenhall as they thought they would be. That fumble in the Super Bowl didn't help.

64) Green Bay -- Demarcus Van Dyke, CB, Miami

Charles Woodson isn't getting younger and you have to think that Sam Shields will get the hell out of Green Bay when he gets the chance. So DVD brings some much needed depth and speed.

#57 Seattle -- Christian Ballard DE Iowa -- Ballard is a big bad dude that's a step slow to be an elite draft pick. He'll be a good rotational DE for the Seahawks

#58 Baltimore -- Ras-I Dowling CB Virginia -- One of the best names in the draft. He fits an area that Baltimore is targeting. Dowling is one of the top 2nd tier DB prospects on the board.

#59 Atlanta -- Johnny Patrick CB Louisville -- The run on CB's continues. Patrick is one of a number of options for mid level secondary prospects.

#60 New England -- Steve Wisniewski C Penn St. -- The top Center in the draft to add to one of the to top Guards in this draft previously. The rich get richer. Wisniewski projects to be a 10 year starter at C but can play G if necessary.

53) Indianapolis -- Quan Sturdivant, LB, North Carolina

North Carolina linebackers go back-to-back which tells you what kind of team Butch Davis could have had if everyone played.

The best offensive lineman in the ACC over the past three seasons will be asked to help protect one of the NFL's most valuable commodities.

55) Kansas City -- Leonard Hankerson, WR, Miami

Past Dwayne Bowe there just wasn't much going on for the Chiefs receivers and Hankerson is a nice addition on the other side. Solid route runner and pass catcher.

56) New Orleans -- Jah Reid, OL, UCF
Reid, a Polk County product (Haines City) and a big guy, should help continue to bolster a strength for the Saints. Reid could play any one of four positions on the line.

#49 Jacksonville -- Titus Young, WR, Boise St

Garrard gets a poor man's Desean Jackson. Young is a dynamic WR who can add a plethora of plays to the JAX playbook. Think what Dexter McCluster meant to KC in regards to all-around utility play and that's what Young's value can provide.

#50 San Diego -- Ben Ijalana, OT, Villanova

Think of the Jets 2010 2nd round pick Vladimir Ducasse and this is the 2011 version of a small school Tackle getting picked so high. Arguably so, Ijalana is a 1st round talent who goes 2nd b/c no one knows Villanova football.

#51 Tampa Bay -- Martez Wilson, ILB, Illinois

Ok, so we know TB was 2nd to last in sacks this past season. So why not go for a DE in the 2nd? Well, b/c all the highly advertised ends have been taken (I know a Bucs fanatic who wanted Kerrigan). With Wilson, the Bucs address a solution to Barrett Ruud's low 2010 production and possible exit. Wilson is a physical guy who can lay the lumber and has untapped potential - sounds like a lad named D Brooks. Look for TB to take a few good underadvertised, but talented, DE's in rounds 3-6.

#52 New York Giants -- Bruce Carter, OLB, North Carolina

The need for a quality LBer for Big Blue is highly transparent. Ever since the days of LT/Carson/Banks, the best LB crew the Giants had since then was in '07, where Kawika Mitchell & Antonio Pierce were vital cogs. Now, the Giants have Goff/Bulluck/Boley...a current trio that is tepid. Bruce Carter is the best available OLB who has excellent range and is explosive off the edge.

#46 Denver -- Phil Taylor DT Baylor -- First of all Phil Taylor from Baylor sounds cool, second of all his new nickname can be the Denver Omelette, third of all this is 2 times in a row I picked a guy from Baylor. Not at the top of need positions but Denver would love to see Taylor on the board here.
#47 St. Louis -- Jonathan Baldwin Pittsburgh -- An underated WR on the board with alot of upside. Time to start giving Bradford some weapons to throw to.
#48 Oakland -- Colin Kaepernick QB Nevada -- If Kaepernick can evolve he's got all the physical tools. There's no Pistol offense in the pros. He's a project.

41) Washington Redskins-- Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State

The Redskins desperately need an upgrade at the quarterback position. While Ponder doesn't have the physical attributes of Locker or Gabbert, he's ready made for the pros and could play early.

42) Houston Texans -- Brooks Reed, DE, Arizona
This is an amazing get for Houston as Reed is projected to go in the first 25 picks. Not only is he the best player on the board but he fits a major need for the Texans.

43) Minnesota Vikings -- Rahim Moore, S, Utah
With all the quarterbacks gone it's going to be up to the Vikes to find a gem in the late rounds. The secondary is another need and Moore has had a late first-round projection for much of the offseason.

44) Detroit -- Curtis Brown, CB, Texas
The Lions continue improving the defense with another player that fits a need. Right now the Lions are becoming one of those sleeper teams for the 2011 season.
