41) Washington Redskins-- Christian Ponder, QB, Florida State

The Redskins desperately need an upgrade at the quarterback position. While Ponder doesn't have the physical attributes of Locker or Gabbert, he's ready made for the pros and could play early.

42) Houston Texans -- Brooks Reed, DE, Arizona
This is an amazing get for Houston as Reed is projected to go in the first 25 picks. Not only is he the best player on the board but he fits a major need for the Texans.

43) Minnesota Vikings -- Rahim Moore, S, Utah
With all the quarterbacks gone it's going to be up to the Vikes to find a gem in the late rounds. The secondary is another need and Moore has had a late first-round projection for much of the offseason.

44) Detroit -- Curtis Brown, CB, Texas
The Lions continue improving the defense with another player that fits a need. Right now the Lions are becoming one of those sleeper teams for the 2011 season.

#30 New York Jets

The New York Jets select Muhammad Wilkerson, DE, Temple. At this stage there little doubt in my mind that the Jets have traded down to get themselves in the second round because there isn't a sure-fire pick here that would bring them more impact then having a volume of picks and trying to get a player like Marvin Austin or Jabaal Sheard or hoping Phil Hughes from Baylor slips. And Rex Reed is the DE/OLB a guy like Rex Ryan would love because he'll fly all over the field and he has the size and versatility to play with his hand in the ground if necessary. But Wilkerson is a big dude, nearly 6'5, 315 and could play the end or the tackle in situations. It's hard to pass up a lineman like this that had higher value.

#27 Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons select Nate Solder, OT, Colorado. The Falcons have a need for linemen on either side of the ball so it just comes down to the best value pick. Solder is a big dude -- 6-foot-8, 320 pounds and with a little seasoning you could have a heck of a bookend tackle.

#24 New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints select Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama. The Saints have one of the league's most explosive offenses without the luxury of a true-blue feature running back. So let's give them the 2009 Heisman Trophy winner and see where things go from there. Ingram isn't the fastest runner, but he's tough, strong and he makes big plays. He's also dynamic out of the passing game and fits a need for the Saints even if it isn't their primary need.

#21 Kansas City Chiefs

With the 21st selection the Kansas City Chiefs select Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue. This pick fits everything the Chiefs need (another strong pass rusher) with everything the organization wants -- a legitimately good character kid that works hard. There are so many quality defensive linemen in this draft but at No. 21 Kerrigan is a great value.

#18 San Diego Chargers

With the No. 18 pick in the draft the San Diego Chargers select Cameron Jordan DE California. Great value pick here as the common thinking was the Chargers would have to move up to get Jordan but they hold tight and he falls into their lap and is ready to improve that 3-4 defense right away!

#14 St. Louis Rams

The No. 14 pick in the draft is Corey Liuget DT Illinois. Once Julio Jones drops to the Cowboys there's no doubt in my mind that the Rams will do everything in their power to trade up. However, at this spot there is plenty of defensive line talent and that's something that Steve Spagnolo will take every day of the week. Liuget is a strong talent that can provide a serious pass rush from the interior of the line.

#11 Houston Texans

With the No. 11 pick the Houston Texans select Prince Amukamara CB Nebraska. The Texans pass defense was amongst the worst in the league and the cause of several late game collapses. They will also bolster the outside linebacker spots in this draft but Prince is the best value pick on the board.

#8 Tennessee Titans

With the eighth selection the Titans choose Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson and it's an excellent selection because Bowers not only fits a huge need but he has so much upside that he could potentially give the Titans the type of value of a No. 1 pick. The Titans run in the 90s began with Jevon Kearse and Bowers is a much more advanced version.

#5 Pick Arizona Cardinals

The number five pick is brought to you by the lesser-known member of the Sheen family Emilio Estevez (at least he uses the real family name)

The Cardinals select Ryan Mallett QB Arkansas: I said I'm not selecting Blaine Gabbert and I won't select Blaine Gabbert. If Mallett is the Cardinals' man there's a good chance they would trade down at least 10 spots to someone who might want Gabbert (Hello, Miami!). But there are no trades in this mock and no way I'm picking Gabbert. Mallett has a few issues but he can throw the football -- big time. And with Larry Fitzgerald, Early Doucet and Steve Breaston on the team, the Cardinals need someone that can throw.

#2 Pick Denver Broncos

With Dareus off the board this is a great spot to work a trade for teams that covet Newton or...god forbid Blaine Gabbert. As it is the Broncos get the best player in the draft (in my opinion) and someone that can line up on the other side of and learn from Champ Bailey. Besides being a physical presence on the boundary, Peterson is also dynamic in the return game.
